What Is Trezor Bridge?

Trezor Bridge is a communication tool that acts as the middle layer between your Trezor hardware wallet and supported web applications. Instead of relying on outdated browser plugins or extensions, Trezor Bridge ensures a secure and stable connection across desktop environments. It’s a lightweight, background service that runs locally on your computer, allowing your browser to interact with your Trezor device seamlessly.

Why You Need Trezor Bridge

If you're using a Trezor Model One or Model T with a browser interface (like the web version of Trezor Suite), you’ll need Trezor Bridge to make the connection possible. Without it, your device may not be recognized, making key wallet functions unavailable.

Key benefits include:

  • Secure communication between your wallet and web apps

  • Easy installation and automatic updates

  • Supports multiple platforms including Windows, macOS, and Linux

Installing Trezor Bridge

Go to the official Trezor website and download Trezor Bridge for your operating system. Follow the installation prompts, then restart your browser. Once installed, it runs silently in the background and enables your device to connect to Trezor Suite and other compatible services.

How to Log In with Trezor Bridge

  1. Launch your browser and open the Trezor Suite web app.

  2. Connect your Trezor device via USB.

  3. Trezor Bridge will detect your device automatically.

  4. Enter your PIN on the hardware screen.

  5. If you’ve enabled a passphrase, you’ll enter it next, either on the device or your computer, depending on your settings.

Once authenticated, your wallet interface will load, displaying balances and transaction options.

Logging Out Safely

When you're done:

  • Click “Forget Device” in the Trezor Suite interface to clear the session.

  • Unplug your Trezor device.

  • Close the browser to fully terminate the connection.

This ensures no sensitive information is cached or left exposed.

Final Thoughts

Trezor Bridge plays a crucial role in enabling secure, real-time communication between your hardware wallet and online platforms. Installing and using it properly ensures your crypto experience remains private, reliable, and easy to manage.
